About Oka Mathematical Institute
Oka Mathematical Institute (OMI) has just been founded in the university in 2015.
One of the aims of the Institute is to promote an attractive exchange between
mathematicians/students all over the world.
The name of the Institute comes from the mathematician Kiyoshi Oka, who
devoted himself to both research and education at the university, especially to
the education for women.
Greetings from the Chairman
The spirit of Kiyoshi Oka, who was one of the most prominent mathematicians in the world, has been highly estimated up to now. On the basis of his spirit, OMI considers an attractive exchange between mathematicians/students all over the world.

About the emblem
This emblem is designed by the modern artist Chihiro Shimotani of Nara prefecture. It comes from the initials of the name "Oka Mathematical Institute". The script "O" in the middle of the emblem is a mathematical symbol standing for a structure sheaf. The initial "O" of Oka is often used for the structure sheaf because Kiyoshi Oka was deeply involved in its discovery.
