I have studied how the neurotransmitter systems are involved in behaviors in experimental animals; both rodents and primates for understanding the brain mechanisms of cognitive, emotional and social behaviors in both physiological and pathological conditions, to be potential for simulating psychiatric disorders. The techniques are behavioral pharmacology and chemical neuroanatomy including PET and MRI in non-human primates; macaques and marmosets. I am also interested in neurobiological basis for the origin of the human mind. Now we study the individual difference in social behaviors and associate them to brain structures and functions in humans, which are to be compared with the cases of non-human animals.
